Nicholas D. Smith
Nicholas D. Smith is James F. Miller Professor of Humanities in Classics and Philosophy at Lewis and Clark College. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford in 1975. He is the co-author of Socrates on Trial (1989); Plato's Socrates (1994); The Philosophy of Socrates (2000); The Trial and Execution of Socrates (2002); and Plato and the Trial of Socrates (2004). His philosophical interests include especially ancient Greek philosophy (especially Socrates), the philosophy of religion, virtue theory, and epistemology (theory of knowledge).
