Douglas Burnham

Douglas Burnham works in the Philosophy Department of Staffordshire University in the UK. His general interest in philosophy stems from two sources: first, the belief that philosophy should seek to 'get under the skin' of phenomena; second, an appreciation of the striking beauty of a comprehensive philosophical system, especially one that deviates significantly from 'common sense'. His particular research interests are the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, an 18th Century philosopher, and in various philosophers from the 19th and 20th Centuries, such as Friedrich Nietzsche; and the relation of philosophy to literature and to fine art. He has written two books, both on Kant; a third on Nietzsche will be coming out in 2006; and then yet another one on Kant in 2007.
