We hope the following guidelines will prove useful.

Most likely, your submission will not be posted: if it isn't intelligible; if it's too vague or general (like "What is evil?" or "What is a closed system?"); if it's a question about religious doctrine narrowly understood (like Why did God create the Heavens?"); if it's question that is clearly scientific in nature (like a question about photons); if it concerns a very specific personal problem that doesn't relate to more general issues; your question seems like an exam question or a paper topic; if your question indicates that you do already have access to many philosophical resources; or if it's a question that's already been asked (use the Search box or browse through the Topics to determine if a question very like yours has been posted).

Please remember, a rejected question isn't necessarily a bad question! It's just that we have to choose, from among the many questions we get, those for which philosophers can provide helpful responses.
