As I was getting a haircut the other day, the stylist told me that she has a child on the autism spectrum, as do I. She immediately launched into a story about how vaccines caused her child's autism. Of course, I disagree completely with this debunked theory, but I simply listened to her politely as she finished my haircut. (She never asked me about my own opinion.) I wonder, though...did I have an ethical obligation to take issue with her? After all, the antivax argument has caused a lot of grief. Was it okay for me simply to remain silent?
